CHAPEL ST LEONARDS PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE

Held on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 from 10.00am at the Old Coastguard Station, Anderby Road, Chapel St Leonards, PE24 5XA

Present:     Cllr C. Briggs (Chair), Cllr F. Stevenson

EC/01/10-26      Chair’s Welcome.

The Chair, Cllr C. Briggs welcomed everyone present to the meeting and thanked them for attending.  

EC/02/10-26     Apologies for Absence.

Cllr C. Naylor and Cllr J. Sieradzki with valid reason.

EC/03/10-26   To receive Declarations of Interest in agenda items under the Localism Act 2011 – being any pecuniary interest in agenda items not previously recorded on Members’ Register of Interests.

None received.

EC/04/10-26     To receive and approve the draft minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 8 September 2026.

The minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 8 September 2026 were unanimously approved and signed by the Chair, Cllr C. Briggs.

EC/05/10-26     Discussion – Remembrance 11 November 2026

  1.  Programme.

The Committee discussed the programme and timings.

  1.  People Making Speech.

The Chair, Cllr C. Briggs will check who the speakers at the Remembrance ceremony will be.

  1. Singing discussion

The singing schedule was discussed along with timings.

  1. Equipment Check.

The Clerk will ask Mark to check the microphone and electrics.

EC/06/10-26       Christmas Light Switch-on Update and ideas.

It was suggested by a Councillor that beer should be sold as well as mulled wine.  Another suggestion was that lights should be purchased so that the area wouldn’t be so dark due to health and safety. 

  1. The Clerk/Assistant Clerk will source lights and prices. 
  2. The schedule for singing was discussed. 
  3. The Christmas tree has been ordered.   
  4. Presents from Santa will be donated by Blue Anchor.

EC/07/10-26     W.I. Christmas Tree Competition for Methodist Church.

  1. Source Tree – Hub. 

The Clerk will ask Mark, the Handyman to source the Christmas tree.

  1. Theme – Keith’s Rescue Dogs.

There was a discussion about purchasing Christmas tree hanging decorations and prices.
