MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE

EC42/08-24 Chair’s Welcome


 

Cllr Whitmore welcomed Councillors to the meeting.

EC44/08-24 Declarations of Interest

EC45/08-24 To resolve as minutes the record of the meeting held on 18 July 2024

 

The minutes were RESOLVED and signed by the Chair.

 

 

EC46/08-24 To discuss update on the Summer Festival

 

  1. Stalls update – The wrestling demonstration may not be able to attend because of the bad weather forecast and the wetness is a health and safety issue for them. In light of this the Committee unanimously RESOLVED to cancel the wrestling demonstration. The Clerk is to put a note on our Facebook page to inform the public. Cllr Whitmore will be asking the trampoline stall holder if they are still able to attend in light of the weather and its implications.

  2. Chairs – These will be collected from Chapel St Leonards Primary School on Friday at 2:30 by the Clerk and an operative.

  3. Hi-Vis jackets – All Hi-Vis jackets have arrived and are available for use.

  4. Lanyards – All lanyards have been distributed.

  5. Floor plan for Summer Festival – It was RESOLVED that the floor plan was suitable for the occasion. Cllrs attendance in the Councillors’ gazebo was agreed as follows:

EC47/08-24 Future Events:

  1. 1940s Weekend – Cllr Holmes proposed a 1940s weekend to take place early May/June and they will bring this back to the Events Committee with costings. The idea of a Farmers’ Market was also floated.

  1. Children’s Xmas party – Cllr Holmes suggested that a Christmas Party with a disco and Father Christmas as a separate event from the Lights Switch On taking place in November. Cllr Holmes will speak with Mr J Toyne as he has organised many of these events and will report back with costings and any possible sponsorship at the next Events Committee meeting.


 

EC48/08-24 Permission to purchase large poppies for lampposts

It was unanimously RESOLVED to give permission to the Clerk to purchase large poppies for the lamp posts.


 

EC49/08-24 To resolve the date of the next Events committee meeting

RESOLVED as Thursday 26 September 11:00, Church Hall.
