MINUTES OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE

Held on Thursday, 24 April 2025 at 11.00am at the

Church Hall, Church Lane, Chapel St Leonards, PE24 5UJ

Present:  Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair), Cllr P. Robinson, Cllr C. Briggs and Cllr P. Hamilton.

In attendance:  Cllr D. Wilson

EC01/04-25    Chair’s welcome

Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair) welcomed everyone present to the meeting and thanked them for attending.

EC02/04-25    Apologies for absence

None received.

EC03/04-25    Declaration of pecuniary interests not already registered and to consider any dispensations.

None received.

EC04/04-25    Minutes from the Events Committee Meeting held on 24 April 2025.

The minutes were approved by Events Committee unanimously and signed by Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair).

EC05/04-25     Confirm the format for VE Day

  1. Bouncy castle
  2. Bucking Bronto
  3. Morris Dancers
  4. Classic Cars
  5. Blakey – Cllr P. Robinson will confirm
  6. 6, 7 or 8 stalls
  7. Kitchen sorted
  8. Face Painting – in the big hall
  9. Lucky Dip and Hoopla - £1 each go
  10. Bean Bag
  11. Guess the Teddy’s name – List of names to choose from.
  12. Ice Cream man – Cllr B. Holmes confirmed

A plan for the tables must be made.The fancy dress has been cancelled. Shredded paper is required for lucky dip. Clerk will save shredded paper.

Sue Parr will open the Village Hall at 8.00am

Tables will be set up at 9.00am.Cllr P. Robinson, Richard Robinson, Cllr P. Hamilton and Cllr D. Wilson will help with this task.

The Operatives will put 3 flags on flagpoles, 3 flags on the fence by Village Hall and 1 on the stage. Union Jack buntings will be put around the Village Green as soon as possible after Easter.The Morris Dancers will go inside the Village Hall if it rains.

Cllr P. Robinson will open the VE Day celebrations at 11.00am.

There were discussions on bookings for the Summer Festival and ideas for bookings that would be appealing and popular.

  4. Lets 80’s booked
  5. Ukelei

A timetable will be required.
