CHAPEL ST LEONARDS PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE
Monday, 2nd December at 10.00am at the
Church Hall, Church Lane, Chapel St Leonards
Present: Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair), Cllr P. Robinson, Cllr P. Hamilton,
Cllr C. Briggs and Cllr B. Holmes.
In Attendance: Cllr D. Wilson
Assistant Clerk: Mrs V. Worley
EC01/12-24 Chair’s Welcome
Cllr S. Whitmore welcomed Committee Members, and everyone present
at the meeting and thanked them for coming.
EC02/12-24 Apologies for absence
None.
EC03/12-24 Declaration of Pecuniary Interests not already registered and to
Consider any dispensations.
None received.
EC04/12-24 To resolve as minutes the record of the meeting on 31st October
2024.
The minutes were approved and signed by the Chair, Cllr S. Whitmore.
EC05/12-24 Agenda for Events
- Switch-on Christmas lights
- Children’s choir
- Announcement of the winner of the Christmas window display.
- Father Christmas, Elf and teepee. Presents for children.
- Mulled wine and mince pies
- Music by Blake
- Stalls
EC06/12-24 Emergency telephone details.
All Members of the Events Committee were given the emergency
Contact telephone number for the Operatives working throughout
the village.
EC07/12-24 Finalise Xmas lights switch-on.
The Committee were informed by the Assistant Clerk that the Operatives
had obtained a cherry picker and were in the process of putting the
Christmas lights on the Christmas tree this morning. The other Christmas
Lights are organised and ready for the switch-on Friday, 6th December.
It was resolved by the members of the Committee to award Blake a
PlayStation voucher for £50.00 for contributing music and volunteering at
the switch-on.
EC08/12-24 Discuss next year’s events.
It was resolved by Members of the Committee to organise a themed day
for VE celebrations such as vintage classic cars on the carpark,
afternoon teas, vintage stalls, 1940s entertainment such as singers and
music. The date would be Saturday, 3rd May. Cllr B. Holmes will
research for this event.
EC09/12-24 Donation for Chapel Art Group.
It was resolved that the Chapel St Leonards Parish Council should not
give a donation to Chapel Art Group.
EV10/12-24 Carnival request to use green.
It was resolved to allow the carnival to use the village green for free.
Cllr P. Robinson proposed and Cllr. P. Hamilton seconded the motion.
EV11/12-24 Date and time of next Events Meeting.
