MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE
Held on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 from 10.00am at the Old Coastguard Station, Anderby Road, Chapel St Leonards, PE24 5XA
Present: Cllr C. Briggs (Chair), Cllr J. Sieradzki, Cllr F. Stevenson

EC/01/09-26 Chair’s Welcome.
The Chair, Cllr C. Briggs welcomed everyone present to the meeting and thanked them for attending.
EC/02/09-26 Apologies for Absence.
Cllr C. Naylor with valid reason.
EC/03/09-26 To receive Declarations of Interest in agenda items under the Localism Act 2011 – being any pecuniary interest in agenda items not previously recorded on Members’ Register of Interests.
None received.
EC/04/09-26 To receive and approve the draft minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 7 July 2026.
The minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 7 July 2026 were unanimously approved and signed by the Chair, Cllr C. Briggs.
EC/05/09-26 Festival Review and Feedback.
The Chair, Cllr C. Brigg referred to an email that she sent to all members of the council:
‘Good morning’
Very much a team effort especially Jackie, Val and the Operatives … the organisation was amazing and everything seemed to run like clockwork…
Thank you to the Vice Chair Jenny for opening the event… I have it on video! Was a great speech.
The entertainment provided by Andy at Popcorn Media was also fantastic and was enjoyed by all!
The Chapel Belles were brilliant also the Alford Morris Dancers too…added to the entertainment and worked well which were also enjoyed by all.
Stall holders all happy with the weekend also and hoping to come back next year!
Here’s to planning the event for next year!!

EC/06/09-26 Light Waves Update.
The Light waves event will take place at Chapel St Leonards on Thursday, 15 October 2026.
EC/07/09-26 Remembrance Day
This Remembrance Service will take place on Wednesday, 11 November 2026 at 10.45am. The Church Service will be held on Sunday 15 November 2026. There was a discussion regarding decorating the village green with poppies a week before the service.
EC/08/09-26 Christmas Lights Switch-on: Date, Time, Alcohol Licence etc.
The Christmas Lights Switch-on will be held om Friday, 27 November 2026 at 4.00pm to 6.00pm. The Clerk will obtain an alcohol licence for the mulled wine. Cllr F. Stevenson volunteered to be available to serve the wine. A suggestion was to contact stallholders to see if they would like to attend for free and bring their own gazebo and chairs and tables. Another suggestion was to research lights as in the past the area has been very dark. The teepee would be used for the grotto for Father Christmas.
