CHAPEL ST LEONARDS PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE

Held on Thursday, 11 September from 12.00pm at the Church Hall, Church Lane, Chapel St Leonards, PE25 5UJ

Present: Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair), Cllr P. Robinson, Cllr C. Briggs, Valerie Anne Worley Clerk/RFO

EC01/09-25  Chair’s Welcome

Cllr S. Whitmore (Chair) welcomed all present to the meeting and thanked them for attending.

EC02/09-25 Apologies for Absence.

None received.

EC03/09-25 To receive Declarations of Interest in agenda items under the Localism Act 2011 – being any pecuniary interest in agenda items not previously recorded on Members’ Register of interests.

None received.

EC04/09-25 To receive and approve the draft minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 31 July 2025.

The minutes of the Events Committee Meeting held on 31 July 2025 were unanimously approved and signed by the Chair, Cllr S. Whitmore and seconded by Cllr C. Briggs

EC05/09-25 Budget so far.

There is a budget of £9,500 and £1,900 left for Remembrance Day and Christmas events.

EC06/09-25 Recollection of the Summer Fun festival 2025.

It was very good. The weather was very good. The Operatives were early, and everyone worked together so well. Pictures of the event are to be put onto Facebook.

EC07/09-25 Beginnings of Summer Fun Festival 2026.

Things are going very well. Half the stalls are already booked. The entertainment is to be arranged.

EC08/09-25 Lightwaves.

There was a meeting on 10th September for the lightwaves event. Mark the Handyman attended. They will meet at 12pm at 1pm There will be a Firestarter. The school children will be making lanterns.

EC09/09-25 Remembrance Day

  1. There will be two poppies per lamp posts. A meeting has been arranged with John, the supervisor at 9.00am on Friday, 12th October 2025.
  2. There was a discussion with Mark, the handyman regarding the screen for the poppies on the village green.
  3. Three wreathes have been ordered.
  4. The bugle player is to be booked.

EC10/09-25 Christmas Light Switch On

  1. The light’s will be switched on 28th November 2025 time to be arranged.
  2. There has been a text message sent to Blakey asking availability.
  3. Theres a working party for the Christmas lights on 23 September 2025

EC11/09-25 Date and time of next Events Committee Meeting.
