MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CEMETERY COMMITTEE

Held at The Church Rooms on

14th October at 10.30 am

The Councillors took a walk around the Cemetery before the meeting

 

1.      Apologies for absence

          Cllr Hibbert-Greaves

2.       Declarations of interest

          None

3.        Balance of the Cemetery Reserve as at 31st August 2021

         £13503.03     

         Noted

4.      Report on the work carried out in the Cemetery

         The Clerk reported that all the outstanding work on the Cemetery had been completed.

          It was also agreed that a copy of the rules and regulations for the Lawned Cemetery should be put

          on the notice board.

5.      To discuss the following plots

         Every effort has been made to contact the of the plots, it was therefore agreed that -

         C8/1 – Angel statue to move to the pagoda

         C9/8 – To remove all the stones, and place monument in the pagoda

         C8/11 – A card to be placed on the grave, asking the owner to contact the Clerk.

6.      Quotes received from Robert Aldridge

          Rolling & seeding includes supply of grass seed £60

          Clearing of bramble patch uncover grave stones and remove green waste offsite £300

          It was proposed by Cllr Evans, seconded Cllr Mrs Hamilton and unanimously agreed that the

          quotes were accepted.

7.       Insurance cover

          The Clerk has been in contact with the insurance company to confirm that the trees in the churchyard

          are coved on the policy.  This has been confirmed, however there should be an annual risk

          assessment on the Churchyard & the Lawned Cemetery.  The Clerk will arrange this.

          The Clerk also advised that some of the tombstones in the churchyard are leaning, and the

          Church path is becoming a trip hazard.  The Church will address these problems.  Mrs Green

          also reminded the Committee that the Churchyard must not be cut back too much as it is a wild life area.
