MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CEMETERY COMMITTEE

CC1/10-22 Election of Chair
Cllr Whitmore was proposed and seconded and RESOLVED Cllr Whitmore is elected Chair of the Cemetery Committee
CC2/1022 Election of Vice Chair
Cllr Robinson was proposed and seconded and RESOLVED Cllr Robinson is elected Vice Chair of the Cemetery Committee
CC3/10-22 Apologies for Absence
            None
 
CC4/10-22 Declarations of Interest 
None
 
CC5/10-22 Financial Update on the Cemetery Fund
 
The Deputy Clerk advised she had found documents to support receipts and payments regarding the Cemetery Fund and that an up-to-date balance is forthcoming.
 
CC6/10-22 To adopt the Burial Ground Policy Statement and CSL Lawned Cemetery Regulations Terms and Conditions
 
Both documents were RESOLVED for approval, subject to the “NB” section on the Burial Ground Policy Statement being moved to Section 7, subsection c.
 
CC7/10-22 Discussion of Tree Survey and Report
 
The Committee walked the church and lawned cemeteries to review the trees noted as “amber” on the Dec 2021 survey. Ground working height suckers, deadwood, ivy, and basil removal was requested to be undertaken by Parish Council operatives. The trimming of tree T20 will require a quotation from a qualified individual/company; the removal of tree G2 will require same, subject to the approval of the Parochial Church Council. This approval will be sought by the Deputy Clerk via the Church Wardens. 
 
CC8/10-22 Discussion regarding condition of lawns and weed control
 
The Committee walked the lawned cemetery and noted an abundance of weeds. The Deputy Clerk was tasked to enquire with the usual cemetery groundskeeper about his suggestions on weed control. His response will be sent back to the Committee for their discussion. 
 
CC9/10-22 Update on footpath repairs on the Church side of the cemetery
 
As no update was available, the Deputy Clerk was tasked to enquire with the Church Wardens as to progress and to report back to this committee.
 
CC10/10-22 Inspection of graves and ornaments to ensure compliance with terms &    conditions
 
Tabled until the next ordinary meeting of the Cemetery Committee
 
CC11/10-22 To resolve to exclude the public and media to discuss confidential items relating to individuals and confidential financial matters in accordance with The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 
 
It was RESOLVED to move to closed session

It was RESOLVED to consider and discuss advice received at the next meeting of the full Parish Council
 
CC12/10-22 To resolve the date of the next Cemetery Committee meeting
 
It was RESOLVED that the next ordinary meeting of the Cemetery Committee will be held on Wednesday 11 January 2023 at 11:00 am at the Church Hall, Church Lane, Chapel St Leonards
 
 
Having concluded the agenda, the meeting was adjourned at 11:50am.
