Minutes Of The Meeting Of The Cemetery Committee

 

February 20th 2020 at 10 am in The Parish Office Ancaster Avenue Chapel St Leonards

 

Present: Cllrs Evans, Hibbert-Greaves, Turton-Leivers & Yaxley

Parish Clerk

 

1. Apologies For Absence

2. Declarations Of Interest

None

 

3 To Appoint A Chairman & Vice Chairman

To Appoint A Chairman

Cllr Evans proposed, Cllr Hibbert-Greaves seconded and it was unanimously agreed that

Cllr Yaxley should be Chairman – Cllr Yaxley accepted

Cllr Hibbert-Greaves proposed, Cllr Yaxley seconded and unanimously agreed that Cllr Evans

Should be Vice Chairman – Cllr Yaxley accepted

 

4. Balance Of The Cemetery Reserve As At 31st January 2020

£12145.75

Noted

 

5. To Discuss The Price List For The Cemetery

Councillors compared the price lists of various Parish Councils in the area.

The general opinion was that people from other areas were choosing to use the lawned cemetery as it was less expensive than their closest cemetery. The Lawned Cemetery is primarily for the use of residents of this village, it was felt that prices should be brought in line with others in the area.

It was proposed by Cllr Hibbert-Greaves seconded by Cllr Evans and unanimously agreed to Recommend to Full Council the attached price list

 

6. To Discuss The Grant Reservation Length

At present stands at 100 years, it is becoming apparent that some of the earlier reserved plots May never been used

It was proposed by Cllr Yaxley, seconded Cllr Hibbert-Greaves and unanimously agreed that the reservation term is reduced to 50 years,

 

7. Report On The General Appearance Of The Cemetery

Letter received from a plot owner concerning the flooding around their family’s plots

It was acknowledged that there is a problem with flooding within the Cemetery, and that there was also a need to investigate the layout of future plots to maximise the land.

It was proposed by Cllr Hibbert-Greaves, seconded by Cllr Evans and unanimously agreed that the Clerk take advice on these matters

In the meantime, it was agreed that Cllrs Yaxley & Evans walk round the cemetery to check

On general appearance, and to let the Clerk know if owners are abiding by the regulations.

 

There being no further business the meeting closed at 10.30 am
