MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CEMETERY COMMITTEE

Held at Chapel Point on

8th July 2021 at 10.30 am

 

                    Present:   Cllrs Barrs, Evans, Hibbert-Greaves, & Mrs Robinson

                    In attendance   Cllr Mrs Hamilton

              1.      Apologies for absence

          Mrs King resigned from the Council last night

2.       Declarations of interest

          None

3.       Election of Chairman

          Cllr Hibbert-Greaves proposed Cllr Mrs Robinson, seconded by Cllr Evans and unanimously agreed.

          Cllr Robinson accepted the post

4.       Election of Vice Chairman

          Cllr Hibbert-Greaves nominated himself, seconded by Cllr Evans, and unanimously agreed

5.       To Review the Committee Structure - sent to Councillors before the meeting

          There were no amendments, and it was unanimously agreed that the policy should be adopted

6.        To Review and Adopt the following policies – sent to Councillors before the meeting

           Burial Ground Policy, Cemetery Regulations

           There were no amendments, and it was unanimously agreed that the policies should be adopted

7.        Balance of the Cemetery Reserve as at 30th April 2021

           £13503.89

           Noted

8.        Report on the work carried out in the Cemetery

           The work on the trees and bushes, together with the first section

           of the footpath have been completed.

           Still to be completed

           The final section of the footpath, French Drains, and the marking up of the Cemetery

           Noted

9.        To discuss the general appearance of the Cemetery, to include graves not conforming

          with the regulations

           Cllr Mrs Robinson reported that the grass had been cut, however the sign to the Cemetery

           was almost covered, this will be attended to by the contractor.

           She also reported that the front of the Church needed some attention – the Clerk will speak to the

           Church.

           The benches in the cemetery require a clean, but this cannot be actioned until the bushes hanging

           over them are cut back.

           It was agreed that the operatives would remove dead flowers from the graves in the lawned

           Cemetery when putting the bins out.  It was also agreed that the Operatives would clear and weed

           the Pagoda.

           The Clerk requested that the Committee supply her with a list of graves that do not conform

           to regulations
